We did it!
Thank you to everyone who made it to the Town Hall and/or signed the petition. We couldn't have done this without you.
Now we need to get that place closed down for good!
And we will.
Unauthorised hotel at Sacred Heart Lodge in Hackney
This blog is for residents to record and discuss the ongoing incidents of disrespect that occur from the management and occupants of Sacred Heart Lodge in Hackney, who have unlawfully turned the Grade II* listed building in to a budget hotel.

The local press have picked up the story and are on our side, but we need to flood the Town Hall with objectors tonight.
Hackney Town Hall, Mare St, E8 1EA, 6.30pm.
Be there and stop this going through. If it goes ahead, the precedent it will set could have huge ramifications for the whole of the borough.

Reminder of meetings
There is a street meeting TONIGHT for local residents. If you haven't yet received a leaflet through your door email us at e9residents@gmail.com for more information on time and venue.
And don't forget to attend the Planning Sub-Committee Meeting where the final decision will be taken as to whether to support or reject the Planning Officer's flawed recommendation. We need as many people as possible to show up and make their objections known.

Lastest letter from Hackney Council
It would appear that a number of residents, including those immediately opposite 100 Hassett Road, have not received the letter from Hackney Council Planning Services confirming that they intend to recommend planning permission be granted for change of use to a now 25 en-suite bedroom hotel so here it is (with apologies for the quality!).
Furthermore, from the promotional images on a number of websites (on which they are now operating under the name Silkhouse), it would appear that they have already undertaken building works to create the en-suites without the necessary planning permissions or listed building consent. Do take a look and read the review too which confirms what we already know - that this is nothing more than a cheap hostel which is bringing the neighbourhood into disrepute.
And then, if you haven't already, go and sign our petition!

Incredibly, Hackney Council has approved the plan! Follow us on Twitter to fight back
Please follow us on Twitter @E9_Residents to step up the campaign against this illegal development. The message coming from Hackney Council is that if you cheat, obfuscate and bend the rules for long enough, they will cave in and let you do what you want in order to have a quiet life!
This is not good enough. If this development is allowed to proceed unchecked, who knows where the next dodgy doss-house will spring up.
We have until May 14 to object to the proposals. Sign our petition to ramp up the pressure on the council. Time to get busy!
